Cookie policy

The cookies and browser storage the site uses, what each one is for and how long it lasts, and how analytics runs without a cookie.

Last updated 24 September 2026

Strictly necessary

A refresh cookie keeps you signed in between visits and is rotated on every use. Session storage holds your current access token and is cleared when the tab closes. These cannot be switched off without signing out.

Preferences

Local storage remembers table settings such as the four-colour deck, sounds, reduced motion and your preferred table layout. They contain no personal data and can be cleared from your browser at any time.

Analytics

Google Analytics (GA4) counts page views so we can see which pages are used. It is loaded on public pages only: not on the pages you reach from an email link (resetting a password, confirming an address), and not on any page you see while signed in. It runs with its cookies switched off: it sets and reads no _ga or _ga_* cookie unless you have agreed to analytics cookies, and the site does not currently ask for that agreement, so none is set and nothing identifying your browser is stored for analytics. Advertising features and personalisation signals are switched off, IP addresses are not stored by GA4, and nothing sent identifies your account. Vercel Analytics also counts page views and sets no cookie. You can block these with your browser or a content blocker; the site works without them.
